Total Capital Registered in New State-Run Online System at US$2.6bn, Real Estate Sector Accounts for 15%

The total number of companies registered through the new state-run online business registration platform has reached over 6,000, or equivalent to over US$2.6 billion investment value, one year after the platform’s establishment.

According to the report from the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s there have been a total of 7,000 requests, 6,164 of which have been approved.

Among the requests, real estate firms accounted for 10%, or equivalent to 634 firms. Meanwhile, in terms of value, the real estate sector accounted for 15% of the total or equal to US$408 million.

Launched in June last, the Online Business Registration system is a new government’s measure to enhance Cambodia’s competitiveness and boost the investment environment.

This system streamlines all the process and procedures of business registration in Cambodia using information technology.

To date, the system has been used in a wide range of government institutions including the Ministry of Commerce, the General Department of Taxation, the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, the Ministry of Interior, and the Council for the Development of Cambodia.
