PM Hun Sen inaugurates NR58 connecting Banteay Meanchey to Oddar Meanchey

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen and the Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian on 26 February together presided over the inauguration ceremony for the official opening of the National Road No. 58 connecting Banteay Meanchey to Oddar Meanchey.

National Road No. 58 is 174km long connecting Samrong city in Oddar Meanchey to the National Road 5 in Poipet city in Banteay Meanchey province. The construction of this road cost US$122.98 million, which has been financed by the Chinese government and the Cambodian government budget. (Read more)

The project includes 165km of main road and 8km of sub-roads, running through Banteay Meanchey province for 92km, and Oddar Meanchey for 73.18km. The route is cut by four roads accessing from the Cambodian-Thai border, including Ou Beichaon, Jobkorki, and Thma Duan.

The road is 12 metres wide and built with two layers of DBST. The ground was broken on the project in June 2015 and constructed by Shanghai Construction Group Co., Ltd, with the technical supervision of Guangzhou Wanna Construction Supervision Co., Ltd.

National Road 58 plays a vital role in facilitating the transportation in the northwest of the country, in particular easing the connectivity between Cambodia and Thailand.
