Ministry of Defence to Construct New Administration Building

The Cambodian Ministry of Defence has held a ceremony to mark the groundbreaking for the construction of a new administration building and meeting hall.

According to the Ministry’s Facebook page, spokesperson General Chhum Socheat said the new building is ten times larger than the old one which covers an area of 30,979 square metres and is expected to be finished within 36 months.

Comprising of seven floors (about 32 metres high), the new building is 28 metres wide, 191 metres long and has an underground parking lot.

In addition, the building is divided into three sections, the east zone, middle zone and west zone.

The east zone comprises small and big meeting rooms, a conference hall, small and big courtrooms, an area for reviewing troops, and a huge meeting hall that can accommodate up to 1,000 people for both national and international meetings.

The middle zone will have a courtyard for hospitality, a lobby room on the ground floor, and a courtyard for reviewing troops and ceremonies on the first floor.

Meanwhile, the west zone which has six floors will serve as an exhibition hall, document stock room, and a place providing security and safety for government official’s offices. The zone will also have other important offices.
