Ministries vow to resolve stamp tax jam

The Ministry of Economy & Finance and the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction have agreed to resolve the slow process of land title transfers and registration under the zero-percent stamp tax category, following more than 13,000 documents having been stuck at the tax administration.

According to a press release from the General Department of Taxation, the cooperation intends to solve issues and strengthen the efficiency of the registration process for the public and to issue land ownership titles to people.

To date, documents related to registration have been reportedly stuck at the tax administration in the event of issuing ownership titles of registration tax with zero percent, which are the result of donations from direct family members.

Through discussion in a meeting held on 20 January, the two institutions will work in close cooperation to solve the document processing issue at the departments of land management, urban planning, construction, and cadastral in the capital/provinces. They have set a target of completing the backlog within a month through helps from central officials from the two institutions.

This mechanism shall be implemented constantly from now on, stated the press release.
