Inter-ministerial Committee Created to Oversee Construction of 38 Roads in Siem Reap

Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen has set up a new inter-ministerial commission to oversee the construction and renovation of 38 Roads in Siem Reap. According to a decision dated 08 September, the commission is chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Samdech Tea Banh, with a deputy chairman, and 15 members.

The committee is responsible for leading, managing, coordinating the overall work of the project.

Deputy Prime Minister Samdech Tea Banh also chaired a meeting on 09 September with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and relevant officers to discuss the progress on the project.

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction (MLMUPC) also created a technical working group on 07 September with 15 members to help implement this project.

The working group is responsible for inspecting​ the sites, preparing the architectural design, proposing cost estimation, supporting project construction, and implementing other related tasks.

The 38 roads stretch across 12 districts of Siem Reap city and a part of Prasat Bakong. These roads will be interconnected with other main road systems in Siem Reap province, to ease traffic congestion and reduce accidents.

The 38 roads have a total length of over 98km and will cost approximately US$150 million, which was approved by Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen on 04 September. (Read more)
