Draft Law on Land Management and Urban Expected to be Approved next year

Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction is working to accelerate the compiling of the draft law on land management and urban planning to reply to the increasing development of urban, real estate and construction.

Speaking at the urban forum on Smart, Sustainable and Inclusive Urban Development on November 27, the ministry’s secretary of state H.E. Pen Sophal said that the development of urban, real estate and construction have dramatically increased and become a pillar of economic drivers. He said the investment amount in the sector was US$24 billion for the last five years.

“From this point, we can see the demand of investment, urbanisation, and development of the smart, sustainable, and inclusive city which are resilience and high competitiveness,” H.E. Pen Sophal said.

“Through this forum, we will receive innovation, knowledge, experience, and good models on urban management and development with smart, sustainable and inclusive which are important inputs for compiling the national policy on Cambodian Urban and law on urban planning and urban which are underway… and the ministry plans these legislations to be approved in 2020,” H.E. Pen Sophal said.

In the forum, there were foreign experts on urban sharing knowledge and experience of urban planning development.
