China signs MoU with Cambodia to Boost BeiDou Satellite System and Remote Sensing Technology

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport signed an MoU with the Great Wall Industry Corporation of China (CGWIC) on 25 November 25 to utilise the BeiDou Satellite System and Remote Sensing Technology in Cambodia.

In the first phase, this cooperation covers two areas, including the National Census of Vehicle Service Providers (NCVSP) and the “VMS” Ship Monitoring System. In addition, CGWIC will later update the database on-demand for the local roadmap to ensure business operations.

The two parties will also soon establish a joint working group to improve the workplan, develop cooperation mechanisms and promote more effective implementation.

The BeiDou-3 satellite system is China’s first large-scale space infrastructure, providing a full range of public services and applications worldwide in the areas of transportation, public safety, disaster relief and mitigation, agriculture, forestry, urban governance and other industries in China.

Through the use of high technology of BeiDou satellite system, it will bring new life to the economic and social development in Cambodia, in line with Cambodia’s rectangular strategy and China’s belt and road strategy.
