Cambodia receives US$3 billion FDI from Japan through over 144 projects

As of the end of January 2021, Cambodia has received direct investment from Japan worth approximately US$3 billion through over 144 projects.

This is according to a press release of the 21st meeting of the Cambodia-Japan Joint Committee on 11 February, which was chaired by the Secretary-General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia HE Sok Chenda Sophea and Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia HE Masahiro Mikami.

Out of the 144 projects, 66 are in special economic zones or equivalent to a total investment of US$340 million.

Besides the FDI, as of October 2020, the Japanese government also has thus far provided at least US$1 billion in funds, including grant aid and loans for Cambodia infrastructure development. (Read more)
