Cambodia &ASEAN Pledge to Enhance Regional Transportation Infrastructure

Cambodia and other ASEAN member states have committed to improving regional infrastructure, especially border gates, to facilitate cross-border goods transportation as the sector has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the 40th Asean Transport Facilitation Working Group Meeting in March .

During the meeting, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia stated that Cambodia has been working with the Thai and Vietnamese sides.

The team is currently working on procedures to temporarily open the Cambodia-Thailand Stung Bot-Ban Nong Ian border gate and the Cambodia-Vietnam Prey Vor-Prek Chak gate. (Read more)

Besides, Cambodia has also been making efforts to expand and increase the number of transporting lanes at the Bavet border.

According to the meeting, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many borders have been closed. Even though some borders have been opened, strict rules have also been applied, making the transportation times longer.
